Pitt Johnstown April, 2020: Geology professor, Ryan Kerrigan, along with English professor, Dr. Tuangtip Klinbubpa-Neff, have been thrilled to receive such an excellent award for Innovation in Education. The funded proposal will allow Dr. Kerrigan and Dr. Klinbubpa-Neff the chance to develop cross-disciplinary courses that focus on the geology of National Parks and the literary works that helped promote their preservation.
Students will get the chance to learn these parks and become one with nature as the courses culminate with a summer teaching abroad course, where students will receive the opportunity to visit and learn first-hand at the National Parks. As every geology student, along with other majors invited to study, this summer course is one that students will be lining up to attend.
Dr. Kerrigan responded to the news with this quote, “Yes, I am very excited about the funded proposal. The success of this proposal is due to the heavy involvement of Dr. Klinbubpa-Neff in the Pitt-Johnstown English Department. Dr. Klinbubpa-Neff and I are very thankful to the Office of the Provost and the Advisory Council on Instructional Excellence for maintaining their commitment to teaching excellence and funding new approaches to educate our students.”
